![]() I liked the pull between these two and their struggle to keep from going down the wrong path - and I would've loved the focus to be on that tension. The blurb doesn't address Bailey's addiction, but it's a HUGE part of the story, so that's important to know going in. Let's start with the good: I really liked the idea behind the storyline. As Bailey and Drew fight their attraction to each other while trying to maintain a professional relationship, it's not long before lines get crossed. Working at a night club is not the best idea for a recovering addict, and her moody, intriguing boss is another kind of temptation altogether. She's been clean for awhile, but is still struggling to pay her rent, so Bailey takes a job that she knows isn't good for her. ![]() The story follows Bailey, a woman who is trying to put her life back together after becoming sober (lots of triggers in this one). ![]() While there are parts of it that I enjoyed, this certainly isn't my favorite from the author. This still has the intense, unique writing that I've come to expect from this author, paired with a storyline that did have (unfulfilled) potential. It quite literally skips over all of the parts where there's actual growth to this relationship, instead focusing on drama that's meant to be mysterious but is really kinda predictable. ![]() I've read some great books by this author, but unfortunately this is not among them. ![]()
